Re: Safety boot for a medical condition
What about different types of boots? I use a pair of magnums at my work, they have a toe cap, anti-slip soles conform to an BS standard for the police/security /military standards (or they say they do) very comfy. Would they do the trick? I don't really need them at my work, I picked up the wrong pa...

Re: Advice on Next Course
I have just completed the nvq, it is evidence based learning. I did find it pretty good, but be carful some of the providers don't give out much information. The company I used didn't supply me with much so I googled each unit and found a better guide from OCR. However my assessor was top notch and ...

Re: RCD
Cheers for the feedback. Some of the wall sockets have been changed to RCD types. And i know our electrical boards are being upgraded. Had a wee fall out over PAT testing with our maintenance teams. I do think its overkill they do keep our systems up to scratch, i know all the users check the cables...

RCD
Hey guys. Just a quick wee query. The company I work for have Hoover's all over the place for the cleaners. Now they are very insistent off replacing the plugs with RCD plugs. They keep telling me it's a safety reason, and being new to this I look suspicious and walk away. They do train the users to...

Re: Right to Request Time to Train regulations evaluation
I am currently having this problem. My employer hasn't given more than 2 weeks to complete my NVQ L5. Am now 2 years in and 5 units complete. I also haven't been given time away from my office to complete any H&S stuff. It's been some nightmare. However new management has come into the place. So...

Re: Scouts
Alexis I am a youth leader too ( not scouts) who often have quick reactions to things. That are taken well out of context. I am sure like me she bows her head at many things.

Am I missing something or is the daily mail twisting something? I know I am inexperienced but is there more to this, after all they are allowed to sit on the ground to do 'other activities'. Could it be simply because of hot food being spilt on their legs? But then that could still happen sitting on...

Re: IOSH Subscription
Hiya.
I am also studying the NVQ5 and I have been thinking about joining IOSH.
Have you found it beneficial to the course?
I know in the long run it's probably better to be subscribed to either IOSH or the British safety council.
