Re: Face fit Testing

The RPE you've mentioned is unlikely to cover smells from substances given it is a particulate respirator.

If the flies buzzing around is the greater issue then how about bug nets? Other are available but here's an example: https://www.lifesystems.co.uk/collections/head-nets

Re: Prescription safety glasses

I've used Bolle in the past and my current employer uses them, they have set up an account so the line manager can approve what is wanted - photochromic, varifocal, price range on the frames etc, with or without an eye test. We issue out to the employee, they pick an optician from the list on the Bo...

Re: IOSH Graduate name change to Certified (CertIOSH)

I've only been doing safety for 25 years now mostly in construction with the odd break in the quarry industry and training and was a TechSP many moons ago. I gained, again many moons ago the Health & Safety Officer (Industry Accreditation) card (something that at the time required me to hold bot...

Re: IOSH Graduate name change to Certified (CertIOSH)

TBH I'm only a member because my company requires and pays for it, were it my own money I'd have ditched it some time ago. Also short of CMIOSH, it is of no use for CSCS cards, which is a must in the part the of construcion industry I work in, only being a Tech, it doesn't qualify me for any of the ...

Re: Two years between LOLER inspections?

I'm at a loss, under BS7121 anything used for lifting people should have a six monthly thorough inspection. TBH we manage our davit arms via the hire company, every six months they come out with freshly certified davit arms, take the old ones away and in six months they do the same again, on and on.

Re: P50 Fire Extinguishers

Same here, I would have thought that it would be a big selling point to the constuction industry.

Re: P50 Fire Extinguishers

Thanks Messy We have bitten the bullet and bought P50 for site, we did hit a slight hiccup with the foam ones, we asked for the foam with the anti freeze additive as they are going to be out on site in all weathers, however, the supplier has told us that that the foam with anti freeze is being withd...

P50 Fire Extinguishers

Hello Has anyone had experience of P50 fire extinguishers? I'm involved in a long, linear construction site with emergency stations along it's length. We are looking at the P50 as the blurb says no annual inspection (they are provided by the PC, but the f/x service company are like cats and don't li...

Re: IOSH Blueprint

I'm going through the blueprint, am I missing something, but does it really need a 500 word reflection on every CPD item logged?

CV Writing Services

I'm on the look around for a new role and was tempted to trial a CV review / writing service advertised a certain professional networking site. The first draft is quite interesting, it may be optimised for automated keyword serices systems but reads terribly. Has anyone used a CV writing service? An...
