HSfB Noticeboard |
Welcome, we hope this issue finds you safe and well.
Happy New Year!
Well, all the months of preparation for the festive season has ended and it's all over for another year. We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
As you know, this year we are running our regular monthly prize draws giving away fantastic prizes donated from various organisations. We have already seen five lucky winners claim their prize with many more to come.
However, there are still four places left on the manual handling train the trainer course being given away for Draw 1 with thanks to Paul Donaldson of Health Environment and Risk Training. This prize will be held in Scotland (dates and venue to be confirmed when all 6 places have been accepted by winners).
In order to progress this prize, we will now be offering this prize not only to you from within this newsletter, but the prize will now also be posted in our discussion forums.
IMPORTANT: if you are registered with this newsletter and would like to win this prize, you must reply to the email address we have used to send out this newsletter. Otherwise, you may add your name to the dedicated prize draw post in the discussion forums. All those who reply or add their names will be placed 'in the hat' and the first four names out of the hat will win!
The dedicated prize draw post for Draw 1's manual handling train the trainer course can be found here:

"Hello
We are expecting to have a diseal operated heater installed at our college soon within the construction area, the capacity will be 1000 litres and will be on a bunded base etc, has anyone done a risk assessment for this type of storage etc, and can any one recomend if I should install a small spill kit or large....
I am a bit absent in the knowledge of this subject im afraid so any pointers would be welcome.
Many thanks

Car Share incentives
"Morning all,
We have a problem with parking on our site,we do not have enough parking bay's for the volume of cars. This is highlighted during shift change over.it is not possible to extend our parking area & we have looked for other comapny's around the areas to rent space off,to no avail as yet.we are looking at ways to encourage people to car share thus reducing the number of cars on site & doing the bit for the carbon footprint.
Do any of you guy's run such things or have any idea's how i can reduce the number of cars on site? or how you can make 250 cars fit into 200 car parking bays!!!.
any suggestion greatfully received."

| HSE - Example risk assessments |
So, you’re going to do a risk assessment for your workplace. You've read Five steps to risk assessment and you’ve printed off the blank risk assessment form to remind you of the steps. But what do you actually need to write down? What might a 'good enough' record of a risk assessment look like?
