HSfB Noticeboard |
Welcome, we hope this issue finds you safe and well.
I thought I'd start this month's Noticeboard with a 'Safety Moment'...
We are well into winter now with cold icy mornings and frosty cars. It doesn't take long to de-ice the windows on a car, yet how many people do you see driving with a tiny area of the windscreen cleared? So, my safety moment is quite simply to ask people to leave a few minutes earlier and clear all windows before driving off.
Are you a winner?
Draw 2 has now taken place and six lucky winners picked at random have the chance to accept a NEBOSH certificate course through RRC, or STEP notes from RRC as a runner-up prize.
See our dedicated prize draw section below to see if you are a winner!
Good luck, you just never know, you could win a prize just by reading this newsletter!

Getting line managers to join in with H&S
"Now and again I seem to be banging my head against a brick wall when dealing with line managers with the company I work for below is an Email conversation between a manager and myself.
I have changed names to protect the innocent hehehe

I have had to speak with Bill smith (on Pallet) and Paul Smith (FLT driver) due to what I consider a serious breach off our health and safety policy in relation to riding on a pallet that was being moved by an FLT. Due to our past record in relation to FLT incidents/accidents I feel that you should consider taking action under the disciplinary process to highlight the serious nature of the event.
Can you please confirm what action you will be taking?
Regards
Dave
Feel free to discipline them Dave any breach of H&S should be done by the H&S Manager

The line manager (in my presence) should conduct the meeting and issue the warning if one is necessary
I should not be and cannot be judge jury and executioner. You have a responsibility to control your staff and help implement health and safety regulations
I would be grateful for your cooperation in this matter
Regards
Dave
Had no reply after the last one"
