The safe recovery of petrol from end-of-life vehicles (ELV), is a guidance document published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in association with the end-of-life vehicle industry.

An announcement was made by Mr. Bill Callaghan, Chair of Health and Safety Commission (HSC) of proposals by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the provision of accessible advice channels to companies who may have a perceived fear of enforcements if they contact the HSE.

The Working Well Together (WWT) Health and Safety Roadshow campaign arrived in the West Midlands this week. The venue for this latest roadshow is taking place at the Skanska Construction Site at Walsgrave Hospital Coventry.

Revision Pages Reworked with New Additions

The Revision Page has been slightly reworked to enable faster load speeds and less clutter.   New pages have also been added for revision tips which you can find here.

A new page has been added in conjunction with the launch of the newsletter, detailing how you can subscribe/unsubscribe.

Various new documents added to the site, two thanks to Jane Riley of A.S.A.T.S   One HSfB document added to the Revision page.

A.S.A.T.S will be up and running very soon, site is being upgraded due to expansion.

16 September 2004 - Formation of a New Scottish Health and Safety Committee

A new Scottish Health and Safety Committee has been formed, announced by Margaret Burns HSC Commissioner.

The committee has been set up for the coordination of required measures for the improvement of workplace health and safety.

16 September 2004 - Progress Report by HSC on Recommendations for Rail Public Inquires

A third progress report has been published by the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) on rail Public Inquires recommendations made by Professor John Uff and Lord Cullen in their reports on the Southall and Ladbroke Grove rail crashes and their Inquiry into train protection systems.

15 September 2004 - New Guidelines for Occupational Asthma

The British Occupational Health Research Foundation (BOHRF), supported by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), have published new guidelines for doctors and nurses, which should help not only early diagnosis of asthma, but also, where the disease may have been caused or aggravated by work or the workplace , as the early diagnosis of this debilitating illness can prevent long-term damage to the lungs.
