The Working Well Together roadshow is
visiting the Debating Assembly Building, Britannia Quay site, in Cardiff
today, Monday September 27th 2004. It takes place from 12 noon and expects
200 members to attend.
Tomorrow, Tuesday September 28th 2004, the Project Red Dragon Defence site,
at Aviation Repair Agency's (DARA), St Athan's base in Barry is the venue,
where a further 400 workers are expected to attend from 8am to 4pm.
The roadshow, as reported on our
news section on September 22nd 2004, features an interactive
walk-through display, advising on key health and safety best practice, to
encourage both workers and employers to take action for improvements in
health and safety performance.
Chantal Nicholls, Principal Inspector for the Health and Safety Executive in
Wales said:
"Already since April this year we have had
6 fatalities in Wales out of a national figure of 34. Each workplace death
is one too many, especially as incidents are often caused by foreseeable
risks. There is no room for complacency.
The Roadshow aims to prevent injuries and ill health by delivering vital
information and advice to construction workers. The support for the Working
Well Together Roadshow, is a positive sign that the industry is working
together to further improve its health and safety record".
