6 October 2004 - Research Report by HSE for Coal Mine Roadway Support System

A new research report has been published on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website for coal mine roadway support - RR229a - Coal mine roadway support system handbook.

The support system handbook is available as a useful reference for European Mining Engineers.

In recent years, more innovative support systems have become available and those engineers requiring comparative information of these systems, will find the handbook a very useful reference tool.

The handbook, however, does not include details of arch type supports, but does contain rock reinforcement systems and accessories in relation to them.

There can be found within the handbook, some history information on application, testing results and various support systems for appropriate applications.

Photographs of some systems are displayed within the handbook, which will help in the identification and understanding of the construction, with information on how the systems performance can be monitored underground.

The report can be accessed by clicking the following link:  RR229a - Coal mine roadway support system handbook
