The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have a
new web site area within their website aimed at highlighting the benefits to
businesses of Health and Safety in the workplace.
The new pages explain that effective management of health and safety has a
positive effect on the unacceptable amount of suffering, due to accidents
and ill health, within the workplace.
Also in the new pages, the HSE explain the moral, business and economic
benefits of good Health and safety practice and sets out a range of
real-life case studies, which show the benefits to businesses who improved
their health and safety management.
The HSE ask that visitors to their new pages within the website, give
feedback and also contribute to the HSE case study, by providing their own
health and safety stories.
Jonathan Rees, HSE Deputy Director General
commented:
“Sensible health and safety management is
a key part of effective business management. These case studies highlight
the vital contribution that such an approach can have on the performance of
businesses as well as on employees’ welfare: a true win win.
“The case studies give practical examples of the benefits of effective
health and safety management that real businesses have seen. I hope they
will encourage others to learn from the experience of these businesses. I am
grateful to those organisations that worked with us to make these case
studies possible. I want to be able to publish a much wider range - if
organisations want to share their experiences, they should email us on
business.benefits@hse.gsi.gov.uk”.
