28 October 2004 - New HSE Web Site Area - Managing Sickness Absence and Return to Work

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new web site area called:  HSE - Managing Sickness Absence and Return to Work.

The aim of the web site is to guide employers, employees and representatives into working with each other to manage absences through long term sickness and to help those that are currently off with and illness, back to work.   The web site takes a step-by-step approach and offers advice with various sources of help and advice.

The costs of long term sickness to UK business is over £3.8 billion a year and represents only 5% of absence cases, but accounts for 33% of working days lost.   (CBI 2004)
