13 November 2004 - New Slip Assessment Tool Download Available from HSE Webpage |
||
| Following an
intensive field testing programme by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
and local authority inspectors, a new Slip Assessment Tool (SAT) is now
being made available to the industry via the HSE's slips webpage. The software package can be downloaded from the webpage and works with a hand-held surface roughness meter, which businesses would be required to purchase themselves. The software provides more information than other methods and gives a "slip-risk" rating. SAT will prompt the operator to consider a large range of factors, which could cause slips such as: floor surface properties, cleaning regimes and recontamination rates. Results of the rating can be saved to file for analysis and implementation where potential risks are found. SAT can be obtained from the HSE webpage and can be accessed by clicking the following: Slips Assessment Tool homepage Article by Alexandra Johnston |
