3 November 2004 - Scotbuild Adds Construction Health and Safety to SECC Event

The SECC in Glasgow is the venue for the largest Scottish construction event.   Included in this years' venue is a Health and Safety Zone, organised by Site Safe Scotland, working with the Working Well Together campaign.   Dramanon, a training organisation, are providing role-play and creative training, which will offer a life- like scenario, on the health and safety issues within the construction industry.

The Scotbuild event commenced on Tuesday 2 November 2004, where the focus was on working at height.   Today, Wednesday 3 November 2004, the focus is on mechanical handling and site transport and concludes tomorrow, Thursday 4 November 2004 with a look at occupational health, highlighting hand and arm vibration and noise.

HSE Head of Construction for Scotland and the North of England, Pam Waldron commented:

"The Health and Safety Commission has identified the construction industry as apriority sector due to the high number of fatal and major injury accidents. I hope that this new opportunity for us to raise awareness of the key topics - what kills, injures and makes workers ill - will help us to reach a new audience in a way which they find interesting and thought provoking."
