18 November 2004 - HSC Consultation on Proposed Amendment to Loading and Unloading of Petroleum Spirit Regulations

The Health and Safety Commission (HSC) are proposing amendments to the loading and unloading of petrol tankers regulations.   These regulations are known as Tank Vehicles (Loading and Unloading of Petroleum-Spirit Regulations 200(-).

The proposals aim at streamlining some requirements still contained in various regulations, such as Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations 1996 and Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail Regulations 1996.

Mr Bill Callaghan Chair of Health and Safety Commission commented:

"The proposed changes will not be significant - we are merely finding a new home for existing requirements. Because the new regulations do not change any legal duties, we believe they will not have any impact on costs for industry."

The consultation ends on 9 February 2005 and the HSC welcome any views on the proposals.
