17 May 2004 - HSE Updates Information on Transportable Pressure Equipment

The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (the Carriage Regulations) came into force on 10 May 2004.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published updated information on the transportable pressure equipment and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004.

The HSE assures that it will publish new guidelines on the appointment of conformity assessment bodies and updated information on appointed bodies and approved standards on the HSE website as soon as possible.

The Carriage Regulations replaced 3 earlier sets of regulations covering gas cylinders:

  • The Transportable Pressure Vessels Regulations 2001

  • the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (Classification, Packaging and Labelling) and Use of Transportable Pressure Receptacles Regulations 1996 as amended

  • the Gas Cylinders (Pattern Approval) Regulations 1987.

More information on transportable pressure equipment can be accessed on the HSE web site here.
