Seminars for Fire Safety
Navigation

In the light of the number of fatalities within our care homes,
organisers of The Care Show will be holding seminars for fire safety, the first
of which commences on Tuesday 5 April 2005 from 10am to 5.00pm and Wednesday 6
April 2005 from 10am to 4.00pm, at the Bournemouth International Centre.
The aim of the seminars is to provide Care Home Managers and
Care Providers with advice and information on fire safety strategy highlighting
4 main areas as follows:
-
Prevention of Fire.
-
Detection of Fire.
-
Containing of Fire.
-
Escape from Fire.
Care home residents are some of the most vulnerable victims if a
fire occurs, with risk of fatalities requiring unique safety strategies to be in
place for prevention of catastrophes.
Some of the products and services to be discussed at the
seminars are as follows:
-
Acoustically activated device for holding fire doors open, which
in turn provides easy access for wheelchair and walking frame users.
If fire alarm is activated, the door will automatically close.
-
Monitoring of fire alarms.
-
Fire risk assessments.
-
Fire training of staff.
-
Automatic fire detection devices and alarms.
With the Fire Safety Legislation changes coming into force this
year, care home managers will be required to comply with any new legal
responsibilities required.
