16 June 2005 - Free Advertising for Waste Management Companies

Navigation

A directory set up by the Environment Agency on behalf of the Agricultural Waste Stakeholders’ Forum, is now offering all waste management companies in the UK the chance of free advertising on a new online recycling directory.   The directory was originally developed to help farmers identify sites that could take their wastes.

The Environment Agency is encouraging waste management companies to register their services for free on the new directory which will be launched later this summer.   The new service will make it easier for waste producers to quickly find their nearest option for recycling, treating or disposing of their waste.

Liz Parkes, Head of Waste Regulation at the Environment Agency commented:

This new directory is great news for everyone. Not only will it make it easier for people who produce waste to find the nearest place to recycle it, but also offers waste management companies the chance to advertise their services free to a wide audience over the internet.

“All they need to do is log on and register. It only takes a couple of minutes and it can only help your business.

Sue Ellis, Chairman of the Agricultural Waste Stakeholders’ Forum and Head of Waste Management at Defra also commented:

“With the new agricultural waste controls coming into force later this year, this directory will be a key tool for farmers and growers who will need to comply with the changes.”

“This is a web-based directory and will be available for every farmer and grower who has access to the web. Those farmers who do not have web access will be able to contact the Environment Agency’s National Customer Contact Centre, who will be able to carry out searches on their behalf.
"

Steve Lee, Chief Executive of Chartered Institution of Wastes Management’s (CIWM):

This tool is good news for farmers and waste managers alike. We urge waste service providers to register their details and for the farming community, and wider waste industry, to make full use of it. We look forward to working with the Environment Agency to get the best out of the Directory.

Companies can register on the National Waste Recycling Directory by visiting the web site here:  Waste Recycling Directory for Business

Alternatively, by phoning 08708506506 and asking for a Recycling Directory Registration Form.
