14 June 2005 - New Web Site by the DRC -
The Disability Debate
Navigation

The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) has launched a new web
site initiative - The Disability Debate - which gives people an
opportunity to play an active part in shaping a new future for some of the major
issues facing disabled people in 2005.
The web site provides information on the debate, which aims to
shape the future of equality for all disabled people, and create a society in
which all disabled people can participate and contribute as equal citizens.
Setting the Challenge
Bert Massie, DRC Chairman stated:
"There has been considerable progress over the last 10 years in
improving the rights and opportunities of disabled people . Disabled people now
have greater opportunities to learn, work, travel, get information, go shopping,
access services and information and rights to make decisions about their own
lives . This year new laws were passed to strengthen disabled people's rights,
and to promote equality for disabled people and the Government has published a
major strategy aimed at improving disabled people's life chances."
