12 July 2005 - HSE Webpage for Sun Exposure to Outside Workers

Navigation

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have provided a webpage specifically for the outside worker and sun exposure.

Although we are all very aware of what damage we risk to ourselves by not protecting ourselves from UV rays with appropriate sun blockers, we remain complacent to the risks involved such as the following:

  • Cancer of the skin.

  • Second or third degree burns.

  • Sunstroke.

The HSE webpage highlights all of the above points and provides guidance for the outdoor worker such as the following:

  • What are the harmful effects of sun exposure.

  • What you can do to protect yourself.

  • Available free leaflets.

Not only are all of the above of use to outdoor workers, but also to managers who value their workforces health and safety by ensuring compliance of using sun blocking products as part of their PPE.

We at HSfB would urge you to take a moment and check the webpage, but most importantly of all please take the advice offered by the HSE and use your sun blocking cream.

The HSE webpage can be accessed by clicking the following:
