11 July 2005 - Two Minute Silence

Navigation

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has issued a statement on two minute silence planned for noon, Thursday 14 July to remember the victims of the bomb attacks in the London bombings.

Brendan Barber, general secretary of the TUC commented:

"'We welcome the announcement that there is to be a two-minute silence to remember all those who lost their lives or were injured in last week's atrocities. London is a diverse city, full of people from many different backgrounds, and will not be intimidated by those that seek to spread terror and fear.

"Next week's silence will allow working people everywhere the chance to express their sympathies to those that have lost loved ones and give thanks to the heroes and heroines of London's emergency and transport services.
