4 July 2004 - Free Construction Health and Safety Event - Cardiff |
||
|
A free construction health and safety event is to be held at the Glamorgan Cricket Club ground in Cardiff on Tuesday, 6 July 2004 offering practical advice on how to avoid risks on construction sites. These free events are directed at a target audience of small building and construction or contracting companies (those employing less than 15 workers) as part of the Working Well Together Campaign. The events are organised by a variety of large organisations across the industry: large contractors, trade associations and federations, training bodies and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Chantal Nicholls, HSE Principal Inspector, Cardiff commented: "Last year 6 people died in the construction sector in Wales. This is a terrible waste of life which could be avoided. On average 75% of all people killed in construction work for companies employing fewer than 15 people. That is why we want small enterprises to take action to improve their health and safety performance. The emphasis of the day is very much about giving practical advice. To show how risks on site can be eliminated, minimised and controlled in a practical, simple, no nonsense way. It is about sharing experiences, best practice and learning from each other. We are keen to provide help for the industry, by the industry. " For further information about the event, call 02920 577711 |
