31 January 2005 - Second Work Your Proper
Hours Day 25 February 2005
Navigation

A Work Your Proper Hours Day organised by the Trades
Union Congress (TUC) is planned for Friday 25 February 2005.
As with the first Work Your Proper Hours Day, in January 2004, the TUC are calling for workers to take a "proper" lunch-break away from
workstations and to leave at the correct time.
The TUC highlights the British long-hours culture is bad for our
health, causing anxiety and stress-related problems, which in turn creates
difficulties in relationships. The caring of children is made more
difficult and causes tired and burnt-out staff in businesses.
Figures from the TUC show over 5 million workers in the UK do
unpaid overtime, providing employers with £23 billion free work per year.
An online unpaid overtime calculator offered by the TUC,
calculating the worth of unpaid overtime, can be accessed by clicking the
