24 January 2005 - HSE Warn of Fake Health
and Safety Mailshots
Navigation

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have issued a warning to
companies receiving letters for payment, in order that businesses comply with
Health and Safety Law. There are Two firms, purporting to regulate
health and safety law by asking for payments, the names of which are:
Health and Safety Registration Enforcement Division (HSRED), based in
Yorkshire, asking for between £199 and £249 and Health and Safety Enforcement
Agency (HSEA).
Both the above mentioned rogue companies, using the same name,
sent out similar letters in Spring 2004, when their address was in Rochdale, but
this year, they are giving a Bradford address.
The HSE's advice is not to take any notice of these demands, as
there is no legal need to buy literature or services. The HSE can
provide any information required either free from their website or provide a
legitimate pack entitled Health and Safety Advice and Guidance for New Small
Businesses IBBN 0 7176 2738 available from HSE Books, (www.hsebooks.com)
priced £30.00.
The HSE and Police are working together in investigating the
rogue companies and ask anyone receiving this type of literature to report it to
HSE's Infoline on: 08701 545 500, or
report it to their local HSE office which can be found on the HSE website as
follows:
