Health and Safety Executive Corporate Medical Unit, South East
Region commented:
"Pressure is part and parcel of all work and helps to keep us
motivated. But excessive pressure can lead to stress which undermines
individuals and businesses performance, can make people ill and is costly to
employers.
"Businesses have to recognise their legal duty to ensure, as
far as is practicable, the welfare of their employees at work and to assess for
health and safety risks.
"The HSE wants to highlight how organisations can prevent and
manage stress effectively, from well-designed job specifications and to robust
systems to risk assess staff."
