20 February 2004 - New Guidance For Employers Published

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published new guidance to help employers find advice on implementing health and safety measures.

Employers often hesitate to get help as they might be uncertain about where to go and what to ask for. They may also doubt whether they will be getting value for their money.

The new guidance, Need Help on Health and Safety? covers the following areas:

Why employers may need to seek external competent assistance to help with compliance under health and safety legislation.
The involvement of employees and their representatives.
How to know whether something needs to be done.
When to look for outside help.
What to look for and where to go.
Working out whether the help required will be short or long term (if it is a long-term requirement it may be better developing the expertise of someone within the company).
