9 December 2004 - National Framework Publication for Fire and Rescue Service

Following the publication of the 2004/05 National Framework for Fire and Rescue Service in July 2004 and responses received from it's consultation, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has now published the 2005/06 Fire and Rescue Service National Framework.

The framework consists of Government expectations for the Fire and Rescue Service, with a Government provision for greater emphasis being placed on fire prevention and support from the Government.

The 2005/06 National Framework has taken changes into account relating to the following:

  • the Government’s integrated risk management plans (IRMPs)
  • UK resilience and the New Dimension programme
  • equality and diversity issues
  • the establishment of regional management boards and regional control centres.

The Framework will be given Statutory effect by order of Parliament, under s.21(6) of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004.
