10 December 2004 - RoSPA Invites Businesses to Enter Awards Programme

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) are inviting businesses who feel they have excellence in health and safety work practices to apply for their annual awards trophies, presented in both England and Scotland.

RoSPA have more than 1,000 companies, both in the UK and around the world whom occupational awards have been presented after proving their management of health and safety at work practices are excellent.

The awards aim is to provide encouragement and best management practices for the promotion of safety in the workplace.

A new award has been added to the programme this year, intended to reduce injuries and fatalities on roads, entitled The Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORR) trophy.

The MORR trophy is open to companies with large or small fleet cars, trucks, vans or motorcycles with the following criteria:

  • Robust risk management systems
  • A robust culture
  • Improving work-related road accident record

RoSPA Head of Driver and Fleet Solutions commented:

“One of the best ways to raise health and safety standards is to encourage and reward those who head the field and lead by example.

We hope this new scheme will persuade fleet operators to build on their success each year so that they go on to achieve higher and higher awards as they play their part in making Britain’s roads safer.”
