23 August 2004 - Second International Occupational Safety and Health Exhibition to be hosted by China

A second China International Occupational Safety and Health Exhibition (COS+H 2004) is to be held at China World Trade Centre from September 1st to 4th 2004, following the success of the first exhibition in 2002.

The event will be sponsored by the China State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS), with more than 300 delegates attending the 2nd China International Forum on Work Safety and the 20th Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organization's Annual Conference (APOSHO).

This trade exhibition promotes the latest technologies and developments of safe production in the World.

China introduced Work Safety Law of the Peoples Republic of China in 2002, prompting their Government to impose higher requirements on manufacturing enterprises for safe production.

Many Chinese industries, since their entry into World Trade Organisation (WTO) now conform to the development of the global economy in order to avoid non-tariff trade barriers, by adopting quality management systems, environmental management and occupational safety and health management systems.

There will be representatives from globally recognised bodies from countries around the world, such as:

  • Director of ILO Subregional Office for East Asia

  • Chief Deputy of Federal Mine and Industrial Supervision of Russia

  • Director General of the Health and Safety Executive

  • CEO of National Occupational Health and Safety Commission Australia

  • Assistant Secretary of Labor & Administrator of OSHA

  • CEO of the Industrial Accident Prevention Association, Canada

  • President of JISHA, Japan
