The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have produced a new
research report on the impact of human factors on the likelihood and severity of
slip and trip accidents.
The report investigated the impact of human factors and severity
of slips and trips, with the aim of developing practical strategies for the
control and reduction of such accidents.
Diagnostic questionnaires from various industries were used to
compile the report. It was found from these questionnaires, that
there were a number of common human factors involved in the slip and trip
incidents, some of which are:

There was a lack of understanding in the health and safety
Legislation requirements to identify and control slips and trips.

There was a poor perception of risks associated with slip and
trip accidents.

There was a failure to identify such risks.
-
There was a failure to report slip and trip risks.
-
There was a failure to provide health and safety training.
