The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have provided webpages reminding workers and employers that Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1999 (MHOR) do not only apply to lifting and carrying, but also apply to pushing and pulling.

The webpages provide information on such areas as the following:

  • Risks involved in pushing and pulling.

  • Planning a push/pull risk assessment.

  • Case studies.

The webpages are very informative and anyone involved in pushing and pulling as part of their daily work duties would be very wise to take the time to browse through them, thus eliminating and reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD's) through pushing and pulling.
