4 November 2005 - HSE Research Report into
Workplace Transport Accidents
Navigation

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have funded a research
report to review the second largest cause of workplace accidents, namely
workplace transport accidents.
The report, prepared by Loughborough University Business School,
reviewed the available literature of key human factors within workplace
transport, in order to highlight gaps in research and provide recommendations
for future research.
However, due to the large amount of human factors involved in
these types of accidents, it was found, after discussions with the HSE and other
workplace transport experts, the available literature plus the key human factors
should be taken into account.
The research looked within the following areas:
-
Individual differences and personality.
-
Stress, fatigue and demands.
-
Training, competencies and selection.
-
Safety, culture and management processes.
