Mine Sector
Navigation

A working group, representative of the Storage Mine Sector,
after consultation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), have produced a
Good Practice Guidance on the prevention and control of fire and explosion in
mines used for storage and other purposes.
The Guide is additional to the HSE/Home Office Guidance - "Fire
Safety, An Employers Guide" ISBN 0-11-341229-O.
The intention of the Guide is to help mine owners and managers
with the following:
-
To comply with the law.
-
To identify fire and explosion hazards and provide risk
assessments.
-
To identify what is required to avoid, control and mitigate
risks.
-
To prepare protection plans for fire and explosions.
The Guidance, in the form of a pdf file, is not only full of
information for anyone working within the storage mine sector, but can be used
as a tool for training and is very easy to read and understand.
