Recent Legislation

• These regulations replace the three existing sets of rail safety regulations with a single set of regulations developed to implement the EU Railway Safety Directive 2004/49/EC.

The regulations replaced are as follows:

• Railways and Other Transport Systems (Approval of Works, Plant and Equipment) Regulations 1994
• Railways (Safety Critical Work) Regulations 1994
• Railways (Safety Case) Regulations 2000, as amended

• In force - 10 April 2006
• Regulations 19, 23 to 26, 29, and 34 come into force on 1 October 2006
