The DPTAC was set up under the Transport Act of 1985 to advise Government
on the transport needs of all disabled people. It has a maximum of 20 members
(of whom at least half must be disabled people), representing a wide range of
transport interests. Members are appointed by Ministers and are unpaid, apart
from the reimbursement of expenses.
Neil Betteridge, DPTAC Chair commented:
"The current DPTAC Strategy runs from 2005 to 2007. This new strategy will
ensure that we have a clear and agreed framework describing what we plan to
achieve over the next three years, with the resources that we have. I look
forward to the comments of disabled people and the transport sector on our
draft plans."
